Tom Spehar

Tom Spehar began his musical adventure in Denver in 1977 doing solo dates before joining various touring groups performing with B.W. Stevenson, Razzy Bailey, Leona Williams, Blackjack, and The Spehar Bros. Band.

After moving back to Grand Junction he became part of Coup de Gras, the areas premier bluegrass band doing shows with and sharing the stage with Peter Rowan, as well as John McEuen and Jimmy Ibbottson of Nitty Gritty Dirt Band.

A diverse musical background led him back to “electric music”, joining forces with Ric Scott and Jimmy Williamson to form Trez Equis [XXX], one of the favorite ZZ-TOP tribute bands around, touring the western United States.

When the opportunity to join Stray Grass presented itself he welcomed the chance to re-connect with his acoustic roots. He joins the band ready to continue the solid low-end thump that drives the bands’ high energy shows.

He counts opening up for The Subdudes, Johnny Winter, Tinsley Ellis and Asleep At The Wheel as some of the musical highlights of his career.  As well as Stray Grass.
